Readers tips ... San Francisco B&Bs ... Winning tip: The Parsonage Bed and Breakfast Inn
"This 19th-century townhouse is the home of Joan Hull and John Phillips, a worldly and welcoming couple. They serve a restaurant-quality cooked breakfast in their dining room, whose trompe l'oeil decoration was inspired by a trip to Italy. With their lovely antique furniture in the double parlour, sitting room, dining room, and two floors of guest rooms, the house itself is a sight worth seeing. Its location in the lower Haight puts it within easy walking distance of the Civic Center, as well as in a public transportation hub. There are dozens of high-quality restaurants in the neighbourhood. -- fulldeck"

"The Parsonage was a delightful place to stay. The hosts were very warm and friendly with much historical information about the area and their home. The rooms were exceptionally clean, quiet and private. The towels were warmed, beds were unbelievably comfortable and the food was excellent. We stayed four nights and never had the same breakfast twice. The location is great for public transportation to just about anywhere. This was a very pleasurable experience as my first bed and breakfast stay and I highly recommend it over a hotel anytime!"

"We so enjoyed our trip to San Francisco, due in large part to you. Not only was The Parsonage an execellent bed and breakfast, but you were such warm and generous hosts. We can't thank you enough for looking after us and even getting us to the Big Four restaurant. We wholeheartedly recommend The Parsonage to all of our friends and family and we hope to return ourselves."

"Had an absolutely comfortable stay at The Parsonage. Joan and John were wonderful hosts! From the minute we arrived, we felt as though we were visiting good friends. The room was large and beautiful. The beds were wonderfully comfortable. I would definitely stay there again!"
